The Youth and Sports Minister, Mahama Ayariga has appealed to Ghanaians to give government more time to publish full expenditure of the Black Stars participation in the 2014 World Cup Tournament in Brazil.

Mahama Ayariga said government is unable to release the expenditure due to the ongoing work of the presidential Commission of Enquiry on the nation’s participation in the tournament.

President Mahama, in a bid to unravel factors that accounted for the team’s poor performance, set up a commission of enquiry.

Though the Commission has made uncovered some revelations regarding the team’s expenditure, there have been calls for government to release the full expenditure of the senior team.

But answering questions in Parliament on Wednesday, Mahama Ayariga urged MPs to wait till the work of Commission is done.

“…The matter is already before a constitutional commission of inquiry. I believe that honourable members should kindly allow the process to complete then we can have the whole details of the expenditure on Ghana Black Stars participation in the World Cup 2014. I believe that constitutionally that is the appropriate thing to do otherwise the process of the Ministry interrogating expenditures while the Commission is also interrogating the same issue…”
