The National Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Dr. Josiah Aryeh said the NDP is prepared to work with any political party  seeking to improve the welfare of the general public.

He asked Ghanaians not to interpret the NDP’s visit to the largest opposition party in the country to mean that it is out of business.

“We are still in business and we want to work with anybody and we’ve tried to approach others,” he said.

He made these comments when he led an NDP delegation to congratulate the newly elected flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo at his Nima residence in Accra on Monday.

The party’s flagbearer in 2012, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings was however disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC) due to anomalies in the party’s forms submitted few hours to the deadline date for submission of nomination forms.

According to Josiah Aryeh, “we [NDP] have tried to approach the NDC but our stretched hands have never been reciprocated and there is nothing that we can do about it.”

He commended Nana Addo for keeping  what he described as “an open house” saying “that is the sort of thing we want to see in Ghana’s politics. We don’t want to see rancor, bitterness, hatred and the demonization of people and entities.”

The NDP’s National Chairman bemoaned the developments in the political landscape in Ghana and the mismanagement of the nation’s economy.

Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings and Nana Akufo-AddoHe stressed that “politics is not just winning elections; it’s about managing economies and managing people.”

He added that the nation is rapidly “sinking and I think that we all have to do what we have to do to bail the country out.”

This is the second time the NDP has paid a courtsey call on NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo.

After the Supreme Court ruling on the election petition in 2013, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings visited Nana Addo to commend him for accepting the verdict of the Supreme Court on the election petition case.
