The leaders of aggrieved youth group of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) that called on President Mahama to sack the District Chief Executive for Jirapa, Vivian-Nelly Kunko have accused her of bribery.

The youth on October 13 called on President Mahama to sack the DCE over some bribery allegations adding that her actions has made the party unpopular in the area.

On Monday, the group were said to have have stormed the district assembly and locked down the office of the District Chief Executive.

[contextly_sidebar id=”HRKyEDCfmVZGMOYO0xV6iTWC8UMfEQhH”]They were also reported to have attempted to destroy some properties belonging to the assembly but the timely intervention of the Police in the area saved the situation.

Spokesperson of the group, Ismael Sun said in resolving the issue however, the DCE “arranged a meeting at her office. I called some of the group leaders. We went there and we were truly discussing the issue and she made some offers.

“She was trying to offer us some monies which we rejected. She promised the youth some contracts and I said that is not why we came here; you said we should discuss party issues we should look at the way forward. We don’t want this daunted between you; between the executives and everything all over the news, we don’t really like that. ” he narrated.

Ishmael Sun said that because they could not settle the issue amicably “Some of the people I went there with were very agitated because she couldn’t offer anything substantial. We thought that whatever it is, you have to tell us something concrete.”

“She couldn’t explain her position properly; she couldn’t tell us the reason why she called us,” he added.

Meanwhile, Ishmeal Sun has refuted claims that his group led the attack on the DCE’s office calling for the arrest of persons involved.

He said; “We did not do that, we did not attack the district chief executive office in Jirapa.”

He insisted that “definitely if that is against the law they should be arrested and prosecuted. Anybody who has done that should be arrested and prosecuted.”
