The Communications Director of New Patriotic Party (NPP) – Manchester Chapter and a member of the UK Communications Team Mr Da Costa Aboagye has called on the rank and file of the party to unite behind flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo.

Akufo-Addo eased to victory on Saturday, beating his competitors Alan Kyeremanten and Francis Addai Nimoh with over 94% of the total votes cast.

Prior to the elections, internal bickering caused some aggrieved members to release secret tapes to smear their opponents, while supporters of Nana Addo and Alan Kyeremanten were involved in fights in other parts of the country.

In a statement, Mr Aboagye stated that it is only prudent for the party members to unite behind Nana Akufo-Addo and regain power from the “incompetent and sleepy NDC government.”

“As we congratulate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his good work and overwhelming victory as flagbearer, we must bear in mind that something better awaits the NPP and we must have the courage to reach out to all Ghanaians about our vision and our record in Da Costa Aboagye, who is also a final year PhD student at the Leeds University, charged party members to “take hold of the future of the NPP together and be circumspect about our utterance because we are not as divided as our internal politics suggests. We are not as pessimistic as commentators believe. The party is greater than the sum of our individual ambitions.”

According to him, Ghanaians are hungry for an NPP government, there the party must be fully prepared for an overwhelming victory in 2016.
