Ghana will officially protest to the Czech Republic, the inhumane treatment of a Ghanaian student who was suspected to be carrying the Ebola disease.

A video footage showed the suspected patient, wrapped in black plastic, being wheeled away on a luggage cart by a  person wearing a biohazard suit.

The student has since tested negative for the disease.

[contextly_sidebar id=”RmLS4Zf8e7odGDcaUSd0bvdUX2HgU4Zk”]The incident has sparked outrage among Ghanaians who have vented their spleen, especially on various social media platforms.

Police in the Czech capital however, justified their actions saying: “we took emergency measures after receiving a report that there was a man from Ghana at the station possibly carrying Ebola.”

The Ghanaian Ambassador to Czech Republic, Zita Okaikoi, who told citifmonline.com on Tuesday that the student had been traumatised by the incident, confirmed that a protest to the Czech authorities had been planned.

“We are here to protect our citizens, to ensure that the interests of the Ghanaian is protected. So if you let them know it will prevent future occurrences. this is not the first or last that Ghanaians are going to come here. If they think anything of the sort is a problem, they would have a better way of handling it,” she told Citi News.

Ghana has not officially recorded a case of Ebola, which has claimed almost 4,500 lives in West Africa, but fears of an possible outbreak have increased after several suspected cases have been reported across the country.
