Teachers and pupils at the La-Nkwantanang-Madina Cluster of Schools would have to wait a little longer as efforts to get an abandoned toilet project completed for them linger.
The Daily Telegraph newspaper on Monday, reported that the contractor working on a twelve (12) seater toilet facility for the Cluster of Schools has abandoned the project, creating discomfort among the pupils and their teachers.
A survey conducted in public schools across the country has revealed that about 10,000 schools do not have toilet facilities.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the La-Nkwantanang-Madina Assembly, Franklin Anku has called on the contractor to move to the site immediately to complete the project or risk losing the contract.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Monday, the MCE said “I have directed the Coordinating Director and the Municipal Waste Engineer to write to the contractor to come to site immediately or we terminate the contract.”
The MCE however refuted claims that the project was abandoned because of lack of payment, saying; “these days because of the procurement law, we do not give mobilization so once you come for the contract, even before you win the contract you must look at your financial capacity before we award you the contract.”
“So we have taken all these into consideration.” he indicated.
He described the contractor as “being lousy that he doesn’t want to come to site. That is why I have directed that he should be called back to site or we terminate the contract.”
