The former Local Government Minister, Maxwell Kofi Jumah is in the grips of the Ashanti Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for allegedly assaulting a man he claims stole his mobile phone.

According to Citi FM’s Ashanti Regional correspondent Hawa Iddrisu, Mr. Jumah was at the Regional Police Command in Kumasi on Friday to write his statement on the allegations being leveled against him.

The former Member of Parliament for Asokwa  has denied the claims and said it was his bodyguard who beat the man up and he attempted to rescue him.

The victim, Jamal Agah has denied the allegations against him, claiming it was a case of mistaken identity.
