Aflao chieftaincy dispute: youth demonstrate against Police [Pictures]

The youth of Aflao on Thursday demonstrated against the Police, following the arrival of the supposed new paramount chief of Aflao Traditional Area, Togbui Afla.

The youth said they were angry because the Police betrayed them by allowing the supposed paramount chief to enter the town, after the police assured to prevent his out-dooring.

The irate youth were seen barricading some of the major roads and burning lorry tyres amidst chanting of war songs.

Security agencies from the regional command rushed to the scene to calm tempers.

Security was also beefed up at the two palaces while the new chief is said to be in the custody of the Police for defying the orders of the Police to enter the town.

The youth however feel the Police were aware he would enter the town from an unknown route.

Citi News’ Volta Regional correspondent King Norbert Akpablie visited the palace of the supposed new paramount chief’ and said subjects were ready to welcome him as the new paramount chief of Aflao.

The incumbent chief, Togbui Amenya Fiti has vowed to resist any attempt to usurp his powers.

He told King Norbert that, “For us, we are not moved by what is going on because we know we the genuine err to the stool.”
