One person is reported dead with many others injured after river Todze in the Agortime-Ziope District capital overflowed its banks in the Volta region on Thursday.

A heavy downpour which started around 7 pm lasted for about seven hours and is believed to have caused the river to push through its banks and destroyed property after entering the town.

The Volta regional coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Simon Miles Bakar has visited the area to assess the situation.

He told Citi News Volta Regional correspondent King Norbert Akpablie that, ‘’I think the impact of the rain is excessive and so far 93 houses have been submerged with three quarter of kpetoe under water’’
