One person was killed while several farms were destroyed by eight elephants who went on rampage in Garu Tempane in the Upper East Region.

The Assembly member for Kurinatenga, Joseph Abango told Citi news on Friday that one of the elephants that killed the man was later killed by some soldiers.

“We got up this morning and realized that some of our farms have been destroyed. Then we tried to alarm the people that there are some strange elephants around here  so they should be aware. We told them that they shouldn’t harm the elephants or else it will be very difficult for them to be controlled,” he said.

He added that they have called on the district assembly to come to their aid.
