Government has released GHC100, 000 each to all the ten regional hospitals for the refurbishment of Ebola isolated centres to take care of any possible outbreak.
Health Minister Dr. Kweku Agyemang Mensah announced this during a tour of some health facilities in the Northern Region.
He visited some already established isolated centres including the Tamale Teaching Hospital and the Tamale Central Hospital.
The minster said rapid response teams have been put in place to combat the deadly Ebola disease.
Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna on his part said the Regional Security Council is considering the Ebola disease as a human security threat.
According to him, a Regional task force has been established to prepare towards preventing and fighting the disease.
Alhaji Limuna also stated that major stakeholders in the health sector have periodically been meeting with the regional task force over the matter.
Meanwhile Ghana is to set up a staging post in Accra to serve as the central point for sending vital medical supplies and personnel to Ebola-affected countries in West Africa.
The Chairman of ECOWAS, President John Dramani Mahama, who announced this, said this had been necessitated by the travel restrictions and closure of borders that had isolated and ostracised countries currently battling the pandemic.
The deadly disease has already found its way into Senegal, which is now the fifth West African country to record an Ebola case after Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leon and Nigeria.
