The Fast track High Court has dismissed an application for an interim injunction against the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Super Delegates Congress scheduled for Sunday.
David Hoezame, the member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who applied for the injunction on the party’s Super Delegates Congress, and his lawyers failed to turn up for the hearing
The party plans to use the Super Delegates Congress to reduce the number of persons seeking to contest for the NPP’s presidential ticket for the 2016 elections.
The candidates will be reduced from seven to five.
Mr. Hoezame’s application was originally scheduled for hearing next month. However an Accra Fast Track High Court, presided over by Justice K.A. Ofori Atta, granted an application from lawyers of the NPP.
Justice K.A. Ofori Atta said Mr. Hoezame had failed to avail himself of the dispute resolution mechanisms available within the NPP, as well as follow up his case in court.
According to Citi FM’s Richard Sky who was in court, the court awarded costs of GHC 2000 against the plaintiff for wasting its time.
Mr.Hoezame was challenging the status of the party’s National Council.
The ruling means the NPP’s congress can now go ahead on Sunday.
