Government has started translating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its programme and policy planning processes.

The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur however said there will be the need for private partnership collaboration to enable Ghana achieve the target.

Nana Oye Lithur who was speaking at the Women Deliver 2016 Conference in Copenhagen said implementing the SDGs will bring an end to poverty, build peace and secure a healthy future.

“What the Government of Ghana has put in place is a technical steering committee team made up of representatives from the various sector ministries, chaired by the development planning commission. They are taking leadership in ensuring that all the sector ministries are implementing a SDGs”

The global community last year said goodbye to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and embraced the SDGs.

The SDGs adopted by world leaders at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit on 25 September 2015 represents a commitment by all nations to work together to end poverty, achieve shared prosperity, build peace, and secure a life of dignity and a healthy planet for present and future generations
