Staff working at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital’s Pharmacy Department are demanding the immediate withdrawal of letters asking heads of the unit to proceed on leave to “maintain calm and industrial harmony” at the hospital.
They say the Board Chairman, Eddie Annan has written three of their heads of department asking them to proceed on leave while the hospital conducts a forensic audit at the department.
The three persons who are also union leaders are Stephen Corquaye, Raymond Tetteh and Eric Kyei.
The staff had earlier on Tuesday locked up the central pharmacy and demonstrated over the said letters which they describe as “another example of selective intimidation and victimization.
A letter written to the management of the hospital by the pharmacists also said ” the listed individuals had nothing specific to do with drug procurement and stocking taking processes.”
The letter also states that the staff are not against the forensic audit but are determined to ensure proper processes due processes are adhered to.
The three recently accused the acting Chief Executive of the hospital, Rev Albert Botchway, the board chairman, Eddie Annan and the management of the hospital of mismanaging the internally generated funds of the hospital.
The three also petitioned President John Mahama over the poor management of the hospital by the CEO and the board chairman.
The CEO has since been ordered to step down but the Senior Staff Association insists that he is at post and could impede the investigations into the accusations levelled against him.
