Residents of Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region are appealing to the government to completely close down the Liberia camp in the district.
The residents say some hoodlums from across the country use the facility as a hideout and commit all sorts of nefarious crimes.
Speaking to Citi News, the President of the Buduburam Youth Association Mr. Isaac Bamfo explained, “We were not having any problems here when the refugees were here. Now there is only a handful of them here and now the place is being occupied by armed robbers and other criminals.”
He also added that “we don’t have our peace of mind over here. Even today, somebody has been stabbed. There are schools here, some as young as 10 years aid the robbers. We are therefore calling on government to come and complete the clearing of the camp.”
