The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has signaled its determination to work closely with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to strengthen health research activities.
Dr. Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira, the Director-General, said this was vital to the quality of healthcare delivery.
He indicated that quality human resource in health research institutions, teaching hospitals and health directorates was critical to the improvement of healthcare services.

Dr. Appiah-Denkyira made the statement while addressing the 23rd oath-swearing and induction ceremony of the KNUST – School of Medical Sciences (SMS) Kumasi.
In all, 176 newly qualified doctors, including 19 dental surgeons, were inducted and took the Hippocratic Oath.
Among them were 16 foreign nationals from Pakistan, Nigeria, Benin and Burkina Faso.
Dr. Appiah-Denkyira suggested to the SMS to explore the possibility of engaging medical specialists in the diaspora to boost post-graduate training.
It should also include in its curricula, courses on entrepreneurship and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The GHS Director-General used the occasion to caution medical doctors not to refuse postings to the rural and deprived areas, where their services were most needed.
Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, Vice-Chancellor of the KNUST, reminded the doctors to be ethical and maintain high standards of professionalism to bring comfort and relief to the sick.
