Leadership of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) Workers Union, remain resolute in barring members of the GBC Board chaired by Richard Kwame Asante from entering the corporation’s premises.
Their resolve is despite a three hour meeting with the management of the state corporation and the Public Services Workers Union of the TUC on Thursday, to find solutions to the current impasse.
[contextly_sidebar id=”HO9TO2kNJM4zPIzfiaLyOLfgcKkYokmB”]According to the workers, the National Media Commission (NMC), has betrayed them by lodging a complaint with the Police because of their decision to prohibit the GBC board members from entering the premises.
“The NMC lodged the complaint against us at the Nima Police Station”, the divisional chairman of union, Michael Allotey said.
They further accused the commission of being in bed with the GBC board to run the state corporation down.
One worker, who spoke om condition of anonymity said “the NMC has refused to objectively consider the issues in question, when they came out with their fictitious reports earlier to clear the board, they were popping champagne and celebrating.”
The leadership of the union were invited by the police to answer for their alleged threats against the board members. The leadership of the GBC Union addressed their members on the premises of GBC after a crunch meeting Thursday afternoon.
According to Michael Allotey, the divisional chairman of the union, “they will officially present their statement to the police on Monday.”
He however insisted that, “the board members must not enter the premises of GBC.”
