The founder and leader of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum, has christened President John Mahama “Mr. Promiser” because he views the president as a leader who only makes promises but fails to deliver.

According Dr. Nduom, “there is somebody in Ghana who has become an expert, an expert at making promises… There are promisers and doers. The promisers are over there, the doers are over here.”

[contextly_sidebar id=”eRJHpYLyXHp2tgVSZiCnNZ6VU9W0VWXW”]Addressing party loyalists during the inauguration of the Klottey Korle Constituency party office on Thursday, the PPP founder charged voters not to vote for leaders who go about making empty promises.

“As a country, we have to get the right persons to do the right jobs, this is how we can develop the country. The problem we say is affecting our country badly is our bad economy. For such a problem to be solved you will need someone with the expertise and the proven track record,” Dr. Nduom said.

‘How can a communicator and a lawyer fix the economy?’

Dr. Nduom also intimated that, fixing the country’s economy was beyond President Mahama and the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo, who are a communications professional and a legal practitioner respectively.

“We are three people contesting the presidency. We have John Dramani Mahama, who is a communicator. He knows how to talk, how to communicate. So if you have a problem with your economy, you do not have jobs, you want to call the communicator to solve the economic problem? We have Nana Akuffo Addo who is also a lawyer that is his field. He knows how to defend people when they have cases in court. Will you allow such a person to manage your economy?”

“I on the other hand is an astute economist. My track record of fixing ailing economies is clear. I have created jobs across the length and breadth of the country. I work to fix economies,” Dr. Nduom said as his credentials for assuming the presidency.

No need for promises

Following his criticism of the flagbearers of the two main political parties, the PPP founder assured Ghanaians that he had no need to promise Ghanaians because he and his business ventures have already created jobs across the country.

“I will not make promises, I will not promise to build one factory in every district. I will not also go about making promises that I will create one million jobs. I have created jobs across the length and breadth of the country and it is a fact.”
