The Asokwa Divisional Police Command in the Ashanti Region, is on a manhunt for three suspected robbers who killed a 42 year old man early today [Wednesday].

Citi News‘ Hawa Iddrisu reported that the deceased, 42 year-old Anthony Dabo, who operates a small-sized fuel pump station, was killed at his home in Nkoransa near Kumasi.

According to the family of the deceased, Anthony Dabo was shot in the leg, and later stabbed several times to death.

The robbers also made away with an unspecified amount of money.

Confirming the incident to Citi News, the Asokwa Divisional Police Commander, ACP Charles Domanban, indicated that the deceased was sleeping in a wooden structure near the fuel station without proper security, noting that, “where he sleeps, it was a nail that they used to lock it so the people who went there, the armed robbers, had easy access into his place of abode.”

Commenting on the general security of the area which the police described as ‘developing’,  ACP Domanban stated that his outfit had increased their patrol duties in the area which is mostly not accessible to cars, in an attempt to apprehend the suspected robbers.

“We have three motorbikes patrolling the area because most of that area, it is not easily accessible to cars. That notwithstanding, we are doing a lot of patrols there.”

ACP Domanban further noted that the police have some “information which we are moving on right now. We are making efforts to get the perpetrators arrested based on information we are receiving.”

The Ashanti Region has in recent months experienced several robbery cases despite efforts by the police to apprehend the criminals.
