According to a cousin of the cattle owner, Abraham Ahiabu, the rustlers inflicted cutlass injuries on the herdsman, blindfolded, tied him up and took the animals.
The other herdsman who came to his rescue reported the incident to their master and the community.
“The very Fulani who was first attacked this morning took his cattle out around 6:45 am to go and graze. According to him, about three or four Fulani guys apprehended him, blindfolded him and took away the cattle. So it was when the second person went to the fields that he saw him blindfolded and tied,” Abraham narrated.
Their master’s cousin, in the company of other indigenes, mounted a search for the rustlers. In attempt to retrieve the cattle, the raiders shot Kotoka Azi in the leg and left after committing the crime.
“There was a follow up from the community and guys went to the bush and all that. They were seen around Wukpotsikope there about and the Fulani guys fired on one of the people who went in for the search,” Abraham added.
The Fulani herdsman and his employer’s cousin are both receiving treatment at the Akatsi District Hospital and Dzodze St Anthony’s Hospital respectively.
Meanwhile the District Police Commander of the Akatsi North, ASP Narh, said they have commenced investigations into the matter to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime.
