Louis van Gaal believes his Netherlands team were too lenient with Ghana despite winning 1-0 in Rotterdam.

The pre-World Cup friendly on Saturday night was the second time the Dutch had beaten the Black Stars under these circumstances, having won 4-1 just before South Africa 2010.

“We are too careless with the ball at times,” the Manchester United-bound coach told Dutch media on Saturday.

Robin van Persie scored the only goal of the match in the fifth minute at De Kuip Arena in Rotterdam.

“In the first half, there were many opportunities for us to create opportunities, but we have not taken advantage of them. We have created and scored a brilliant goal, but it should have been 3-0. We had another two fantastic attacks.”

Ghana have left for the USA to continue preps while the Netherlands meet Wales in Amsterdam on Wednesday.
