The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has blamed the low patronage of the limited voter registration exercise and clashes at the centers on the lack of proper education from the Electoral Commission and National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to the citizenry.

According to them, the EC prioritized less important activities, allocating less time to the education people on the ongoing registration exercise.

Speaking to Citi News, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the CPP Matthew Kwesi Obeng Boadu said the EC must be collaboration with the NCCE to give Ghanaians much needed sensitization on the process.

“When there are laws, the public has to know what it entails so Electoral Commission should liaise with NCCE so they will educate the public,” he said.

Mr. Boadue however feels the EC have been lackadaisical in their approach to educating the public and have instead wasted time on non-pertinent issues like branding.

“At the time they were supposed to be doing the education, they were wasting their time on logos and unnecessary things. They should have used the time to educate the people because logos don’t have anything to do with what they are going to do come November 7.”

Mr. Boadu further noted that the occurrences of violence in the Odododiodoo constituency four years ago should serve as a cautionary tale for the EC adding that if instance of violence were occurring this time around, then more education was needed.
