Tripple Key mining company limited has donated foodstuff to support WEMATU Widows group in the Navrongo municipality of the Upper East Region.

The foodstuff included 200 bags of maize, 200 bags of Vietnal Jasmine rice, 34 cartons of oil and 20 cartons of Monica sardine valued at  GHc83,900.00 for over two hundred  widows in the municipality.

Speaking to Citi News, Managing director of Tripple Key company, Mr. Victor Gadri said the initiative forms part of their corporate social responsibility to support the less privileged and vulnerable especially widows, orphans  and physically challenged people.

Mr. Gadri hinted that, they intend to extend their mining activities to the Upper East Region considering the prospects of gold mining in the area, adding that, they are collaborating with the mining commission in the region to secure the relevant document necessary for mining in the region.

He advised gold miners to refrain from illegal mining and secure the relevant documents for  sustainable legal mining.

Director and Founder of WEMATU Widows  Ministries, Lamisi Weyiramogwi Atiim, expressed their profound gratitude to Tripple Key mining company for the gesture adding that, it will help sustain the widows as they strive to make ends meet.

Mrs. Atiim expressed worry that widows were not subscribed to the National health insurance scheme as well as the lack of skills training for them, making it difficult for the them to improve their living conditions.

She appealed for scholarship schemes for children of the widows adding that, it will relieve the burden on widows having to engage in menial jobs to pay school fees for the wards especially at the tertiary level.
