Some Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in Ghana have increased the prices of petroleum products sold at the pumps by about 4 percent, Citi Business News checks have shown.
The increment is part of a two week price review window following the full deregulation of the petroleum downstream sector.
The increase has been largely attributed to the rise in world market price of oil, which is now selling around 46 dollars per barrel.
Goil and Shell are among the OMCs with an increase in the prices of their products.
Petrol has been increased by 12 pesewas, with a litre selling at 3 cedis 59 pesewas as against the 3 cedis 47 pesewas it was earlier being sold for.
Also, the price of a litre of diesel has been increased by 10 pesewas, currently selling at 3 cedis 39 pesewas after selling for 3 cedis 29 pesewas.
Some other OMCs, however maintained their old prices with no changes.
For example, Champion Oil has still pegged the price of petrol at 3 cedis 46 pesewas.
The price for a litre of diesel was also maintained at 3 cedis 26 pesewas.
Oil marketing company, AP also maintained its prices with a litre of petrol selling at 3 cedis 52 pesewas; while a litre of diesel was pegged at 3 cedis 29 pesewas.
Citi Business News checks at Engen and Total pump stations revealed the two are yet to change the prices of their products.
Meanwhile the So Fresh station at Adabraka had rather reduced its prices with a litre of petrol now selling at 3 cedis 48 pesewas, dropping by 8 pesewas after selling at 3 cedis 60 pesewas.
Also, the price of a litre of Diesel has reduced by 1 pesewa, currently selling at 3 cedis 29 pesewas. It was previously going for 3 cedis 30 pesewas.
