Energy & Natural Resources University gets new Vice-Chancellor

Prof Harrison Kwame Dapaah, a 55 year old professor of agricultural science has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor for the University of Energy and Natural Resources, (UENR) Sunyani, for a term of four years.

The appointment takes effect from 1st August, 2016.

Prof. Dapaah, a product of the University of Ghana, Legon, began his career as an Assistant Research Scientist at the CSIR-Crop Research Institute, Kumasi in 1988, and rose through the ranks, becoming Research Scientist in 1993, Senior Research Scientist in 2001 and Principal Research Scientist in 2005.

In 1992, Prof. Dapaah won the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) scholarship tenable at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada where he obtained Master of Science (Crop Science) degree and followed it with his PhD in Agronomy/Crop Physiology under the New Zealand Official Development Assistance (NZODA) scholarship at the Lincoln University, Canterbury, New Zealand.

Prof. Dapaah joined the University of Education, Winneba in 2008, as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences Education and was subsequently promoted to the rank of Associated Professor and Professor in 2010 and 2014 respectively.

The new Vice Chancellor, who is married with three children, has considerable experience in management, research and development, and has published extensively, having over 50 refereed journals to his credit.

He has also co-ordinated multi-institutional and multi-country projects including the World Bank sponsored West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme (WAAPP).

Until his appointment, Prof. Dapaah was the Principal of the College of Agriculture, University of Education, Winneba.
