Final year students of the St Mary’s Boys Senior High School (SHS) at Apowa in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region, have been punished for refusing supper served them on Saturday, April 23, 2016.

The students numbering over 500, rejected the rice and soup meal claiming it was unwholesome.

The students’ attitude forced the school authorities to call in the Police to drive them away from the premises as they were becoming violent.

Although the police were able to ensure calm, the students were later asked to clear portions of the school premises overgrown with weeds or leave the school.

The students are the only year group in school being served meals while taking part in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
