Price of cassava shoots up again

The price of cassava has shot up again after it went up by 10% last week.

This time round, it went up by 5% and its being sold in the market at GHc 7.40 per “3-4 tubers.”

Tomatoes made the highest gain in the third week of April with 8% and its going for GHc8.20 per “medium size tomato tin.”

Groundnut also increased by a percentage to close the week at GHc13.90 per “olonka.”

Checks by Esoko Ghana also established that Yam (pona) and Soyabean dropped by 2 percent each.

Both closed the week at GHc 6.00 and 6.30 per “medium size tuber” and “olonka” respectively.

Cowpea however dropped by a percentage to close the week at GHc 8.50 per “olonka.”

According to Esoko Ghana, the price for an “olonka” of maize on the various markets remained the same.

A “medium size tomato tin” full of fresh tomatoes gained 28 percent in Accra to close the week at GHc10.20 with Tamale also gaining 11 percent to close at GHc 6.00 and also with Kumasi and Takoradi gaining 9 and 3 percent to close the week at GHc 8.50 and 15.50 respectively.

In the other markets, the price remained the same.
