Two people have been confirmed dead and another two injured after a building they were in collapsed on Thursday night in Kumasi, after a downpour which lasted about 45 minutes.
The deceased were a 48 year-old building contractor whose name was only given by residents as Charles, and an unnamed 13-year old boy.
According to the Unit Committee Chairman of the Esreso electoral area, Richmond Owusu, the boy who died had gone to retrieve some money from his father a ‘lotto operator’ who resides behind the building, ended up seeking refuge in the collapsed building because his father was not around and also due to the downpour.
The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the Pramso morgue whilst the two survivors from the collapse have been treated and discharged from the Kumasi south hospital at Atonsu.

The collapsed building used to be the palace of a chief in the area, but there were plans to rebuild it due to its dilapidated nature, but the occupants pleaded for more time to evacuate the place.
