Controversial Hiplife Artiste Kwaw Kese left patrons at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Nominees Jam in awe when he unexpectedly showed up on stage to perform few hours after his wedding.
Although the Multiple award-winning hiphop artiste was slated to perform at the event in Ho, many were of the view he may not turn up since he tied the knots this weekend, and was ideally expected to begin his honeymoon with his latest wife.
However patrons at the event last night were awe-stricken when he jumped on stage straight in his wedding outfit. His performance brought live to the event which was nearly marred by the rains.
His fans were virtually engaged in a tug of war in an attempt to grab his jacket after the man “insane” threw the wedding jacket to the crowd. He later dedicated the show to his new wife Doris popularly known as Pokua in Efiewura series.
Earlier, patrons were treated to a fantastic warm-up set from DJ Imaiture of Kekeli Radio. DJ Nii Ayi Tagoe got the fans asking for more when to took over the turntable.
Top on the bill were the ‘son of the soil’, EL, Gospel ‘princess’ Patience Nyarko, ‘the Electricity Man’,Wisa, Bisakdei and others.
The home artistes; Hecta, Enamily, Keeny Ice, Kula, Belce, Kush Elikem, and Kweku BiZkiT took their turns and delivered some great performances. The energy exuded by Keeny Ice, Kula and Kweku BiZkit left their fans asking for more.
The main VGMA event comes off on May 7 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
In all, 28 categories covering Highlife, Hiphop, Reggae, Dancehall, Gospel, Afro Pop, Song Writer, Music Producer and other special honours, will be given out to deserving artistes for their works in the year under review.
This year’s event themed, “Let the Music Play Live” is to encourage artistes to nurture the skills of playing live band music.
