Oil production giant, Tullow Ghana says it is working to resolve a technical challenge associated with the turret bearing of the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah.
According to Tullow, the turret bearing is damaged making it unable to perform as originally designed.

It added, a root cause analysis is ongoing and a project team is assessing which long-term remedy option is most appropriate.
Tullow further stated that although all necessary equipment for the new operating procedures, including the two tankers, are in place, it is important that additional time and due care is taken to implement new procedures and receive required approvals.
Tullow says it estimates that production from the FPSO will re-start in approximately two weeks time and will also take time to ramp-up.
In a related development, the Deputy Minister of Power, John Jinapor, has hinted of a likely load shedding within the next two weeks due to an extension of the maintenance works on the FPSO.
The situation has led to a cut in gas supply to the AMERI power plant. Also, a reduction in gas supply from Nigeria to Ghana has impacted adversely on the production of power.
John Jinapor explained that Nigeria Gas is currently providing only about ten percent of the contractual agreement of 120 mm standard cubic feet of gas with the government of Ghana.
