The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), says the intermittent disruptions in power supply is only temporary.
The Power Ministry and GRIDCo had both given the assurance that there would not be any shortfalls in power supply since measures had been put in place to ensure regular supply of gas to the VRA for power.
But some parts of the country have been experiencing power outages in recent times, a situation that has been blamed on the shutdown of the FPSO.
[contextly_sidebar id=”mZgiG2Twhft555tRPMYt4njWXjNsxqFt”]According to GRIDCo, the situation has also been compounded because Nigeria is only providing about ten percent of the required supply of gas from the West African Gas Pipeline.
GRIDCo in a statement said engineers from the utility companies will continue to “work around the clock to keep disruptions to the barest minimum and restore full supply to customers as soon as gas delivery resumes.”
It further indicated that the initial completion of maintenance works on FPSO scheduled for March this year, has been rescheduled for completion in the last week of April 2016.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Power has indicated that the country may fall back into another load shedding in the next two weeks.
This news comes a few weeks after President John Mahama told Parliament in his state of the nation that his government had overcome the four-year old crisis following a fairly stable power supply since January.
Although there is enough generation capacity, the sector managers are unable to run the generators due to the shutdown of the FPSO. The situation has also been compounded because Nigeria is only pumping about ten percent of the required gas supply from the West African Gas Pipeline.
Conflicting explanations
Government has given various conflicting reasons for the recurring power crisis. In December last year, government increased the cost of electricity and introduced new taxes in the petroleum sector all in a bid to improve power generation.
