The youth activist of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Brong Ahafo Region, Kwame Baffoe, who sued the Electoral Commission, seeking an injunction on the impending limited voter registration exercise, has withdrawn the suit.

The withdrawal came after justices of the Supreme Court judges referred his lawyers to a similar suit dismissed by them some weeks ago by Abu Ramadan National Youth Organiser of the People’s National Convention (PNC).

Mr. Baffoe in his suit argued that the voters’ register in its current state, was flawed and “not fit” for the conduct of the 2016 general elections and prayed the court to compel the Electoral Commission to annul the limited registration exercise.

[contextly_sidebar id=”OScCMblxRdUiUctIEUpesbAPnJFtj55O”]He insisted that if the exercise is allowed to proceed it will constitute a sheer waste of tax payers’ money.

Kwame Baffoe had earlier this year filed a suit at the Supreme Court, challenging the eligibility of some names on the voters’ register.

The NPP activist in his recent suit was seeking ten reliefs, which included an order compelling the defendants to compile a new and credible national voters’ register for use in this year’s general election.
