The Upper West regional Minister, Dr Ephraim Avea Nsor, has attributed the poor quality of work delivered by contractors in the Region to poor technical services given by professionals engaged by the Assemblies to supervise the jobs.

He stated that despite the array of engineers and other technical people in the Assemblies, the nation was witnessing more badly executed jobs than the days when those personnel were not available in the Assemblies.

Dr Nsor said this when he addressed the second session of a youth parliament in Wa on Saturday.

The Youth Parliament was introduced in the region by the regional office of the National Youth Authority (NYA) about four years ago to expose students of tertiary and second cycle institutions to the functions and procedures in Parliament.

The Regional Minister expressed his concerned about the shoddy work being delivered by contractors in the region and was committed to ensuring that they do quality jobs and delivered them timely.

Dr Nsor said the Regional Development Strategy, which has been prepared to aid the development of the region, had vast opportunities for the youth.

He advised them to take advantage of the opportunities that were being created in the agricultural sector in the region to get themselves gainfully employed.

Mr. Mumuni Sulemana, Upper West regional Director of the NYA, said the concept of the Youth Parliament was intended to discuss issues affecting the youth.
