The customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority says plans are underway to meet and address issues concerning importers and exporters with regards to the Gate- in, Gate- out system.
This follows complains made by the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana.

But speaking to Citi Business News, Acting Assistant Commissioner General at the customs division, Mr Mate Kodjo says the importers and exporters are not implementing rightly the new system
‘‘If you are sending your goods to the warehouse, there is a facility in our system, the computer system that you gate- out of the port, then you gate- in into the warehouse. Because of the security of items, you need to register the vehicles that are involved”, he said.
He explained that “a vehicle should be registered long before loading. However most of them do not know so that is what keeps them waiting when they get to the ports”.
“There is the need for us to meet all the other stakeholders so that if there is the need to sensitize them for them to know in advance what the requirements are before they load, it will be done to prevent the situation from recurring”, he said adding that “once they know that they have to register the vehicle before they load, the problem be taken care of’’.
