Ghana’s first private medical institution to train doctors, the Family Health Medical School has been commissioned at Teshie, a suburb of Accra.
The facility, which was commissioned by President John Dramani Mahama, also saw its inaugural matriculation with its first batch of 16 students to be trained.
The school will also provide update course for foreign trained doctors who would want to practice in Ghana.
Addressing the new students in Accra on Tuesday, President Mahama indicated that government will continue to support private individuals who would want to partner the state in its quest to provide health care to all Ghanaians.
Among the personalities who graced the occasion, were former Presidents Kufuor and Jerry John Rawlings.
The Accra College of Health, another private medical school, was also inaugurated late last year.
