Some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the Klottey Korle Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, have vowed to resist any attempt by the party’s national executives to suspend incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Nii Armah Ashietey.

According to them, they have picked information within the top hierarchy of the NDC of an intent to suspend Nii Armah Ashietey and Nii John Coleman indefinitely.

The two are in court challenging the primary that elected  Dr.  Zanetor Rawlings as the Parliamentary Candidate.

[contextly_sidebar id=”wQkNpCV2aFWO5ZKPplHX6gxYQkm0tkCH”]The have argued that she had no business contesting the primary in the first place, since she is not a registered voter in Ghana.

They have thus prayed the court to declare her election null and void.

However, Nii Armah Ashietey, appears to have incurred the wrath of NDC members for taking  the court action.

But speaking to Citi News, the leader of the group, Nana Kwesi Aburam-Korankye, said the party must desist from any attempts to suspend the two.

“We are warning the people who feel like they can just suspend Nii Armah Ashietey for him to discontinue the court case, that it will be highly unfair to us as a people in the constituency. And it will also be unfair on the part of Nii Armah Ashietey who has been a Member of Parliament all these years representing us in the constituency,” he argued.

He said such move will “rather bring more troubles to the party.”

“As it stands now, we need unity to retain the seat. So we are urging that they allow the court case to proceed because the outcome of the court case will give us a clear understanding whether Zanetor is a legitimate candidate or not. If Nii Armah Ashietey is suspended, we will take a different action, we hope they don’t get there since we are warning them,” he added.
