The students’ leadership of Vitting Senior High School in Tamale, is pleading with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to reconsider its decision to temporarily close down the school.
The Northern Regional Education Directorate temporarily closed down Vitting Senior High and Ghana Senior High in Tamale following student clashes over a football match.

Citi News gathered that the Chief of Wurishei, Naa Adam Lansah, custodian of the land on which the two schools are located, on Monday invited their authorities to his palace over the clashes.
He condemned the violence and scheduled a meeting with the Northern Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, Alhaji Mohammed Haroun Cambodia to resolve the impasse.
Meanwhile, the student leadership of the Vitting Senior High School is unhappy about the school’s temporary closure and has appealed to the Ghana Education Service to reconsider its decision.
Also speaking to Citi News, some of the student leaders explained that the closure will affect the academic calendar.
There is currently a police mobile force patrolling the premises of the two adjoining schools.
