As part of efforts to improve the dwindling academic performance in the Ketu North District of the Volta Region, the Gati Foundation has awarded some pupils and schools at its 6th Academic Excellence Awards held in Penyi.
The annual awards is aimed at motivating basic school pupils in the district to pursue academic excellence and also foster healthy competition among schools, pupils, and teachers.

The first prize winner Fiakuna Christian, from Kporkuve JHS received GHC 700, a certificate, books and souvenirs as well as packs of pen, a set of jersey and a football for his school.
Two pupils from Vehem Mawunyo International School in Dzodze ,Danyo Godwin and Tuglo Ebenezer who had the 2nd and 4th positions respectively went home with certificates, books and cash prizes.
Others were Ahiataku Maclean and Adika Prince from Mawuli School complex, Dzodze, as well as Borkorvi Shelter and Danyo Maxwell from Mac Tetteh Int. School, Dzodze and King of Glory Int School,Penyi.
Vehem Mawunyo International School was adjudged the best school in the district.
In an interview with Citi News, Economist and Founder of the foundation, Dr. John Gatsi, admonished the pupils in the region to continue to work hard and make good use of the opportunity offered them. He said the foundation also organizes training workshops for teachers to enhance effective teaching and learning.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Administrator of Vehem Mawunyo School, Evans Mawnyo Tsikata, commended the foundation for the initiative and urged his colleagues to take advantage of the privilege given them.
