The 2014 BET Awards will be held on June 29thand the nominees have been revealed.

Ghana’s Sarkodie has been nominated for Best International Act Africa, an award he shared with Nigeria’s Wizkid in 2012.

He is competing with Davido (Nigeria), Diamond Platinumz (Tanzania), Mafikizolo (South Africa), Tiwa Savage (Nigeria) and Toofan (Togo).

Sarkodie recently won some of the top awards at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards including Hiphop/Hiplife Artiste of the Year and Best Rapper of the Year.

Even though his nomination comes as good news, the BET earlier erred in describing Sarkodie. The brief on the BET website described him thus:

Sarkodie, which consists of 13 super producers from Ghana, prove why they’ve won several international awards with their dance-heavy tracks.

However, the description has been updated to read: Sarkodie is no stranger to the BET Awards. In 2012, he took the trophy in this category and this year the multifaceted rapper’s music has earned him another nod. Will he walk away with a statue again?

Sarkodie’s nomination comes on the heels of recent collaborations with some of the biggest global and African music brands, notably Fuse ODG, Ice Prince and Banky W.

He has expressed his joy at being nominated again with a tweet.

And we made it again 2014 BET Awards!!!!! #Thanks2God almighty. I love u @TeamSarkodie
