Member of Parliament for the Madina constituency, Alhaji Amadu Sorogo, has urged his fellow parliamentarians to focus on development in their constituencies in 2016 especially as it is an election year.
According to Alhaji Sorogo, many MPs tend to shift focus to campaigning and neglect their duties as representatives of people in their constituencies.
Speaking to Citi News, the Madina MP urged his colleagues to pay equal attention to their work in parliament and campaigning.
“You have sworn an oath to the people of Ghana. You are to work for four years. So in whatever you do, you need to balance so I am appealing to members of Parliament, We need to balance. After all there are vacations where you can do and do your work,” he said.
Alhaji Sorogo also suggested MPs delegate duties saying, “Let’s delegate. I am here, I’ve got people standing here with me. If I am not there, they know my style of work.”
Alhaji Sorogo will be contesting the Madina seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2o16 general elections in December.
Alhaji Amadu Sorogo’s main competition for the Madina seat will be the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Alhaji Boniface Saddique Abubakar, former MP for Salaga.
