Pressure Group Occupy Ghana has explained that it did not call for a meeting with the Power Minister to deliberately embarrass him.

A meeting called by the group degenerated into a war of words when Dr. Kwabena Donkor insisted the current power situation cannot be referred to as “Dumsor.”

[contextly_sidebar id=”xc6hWqTVmACGdOSxs2nWDvFOzWYijEy9″]The Minister threatened to end the meeting if the pressure group continued to refer to the power crisis as dumsor and not load shedding.

But the Convener of the group, Casley Hayford on Citi FM’s news analysis programme, The Big Issue, insisted the group’s intentions for calling the meeting, was to solicit answers from the Minister on the controversial AMERI deal and the current power crisis, but not to tarnish his image.

“We didn’t go out there openly, we certainly went there with an agenda. Our agenda was to get answers for the questions we had posed and that was it. How can we embarrass someone who has a PHD in the sector ?You cannot embarass him, he is on top of his game. He is suppose to know what he is doing. I am just an accountant, that’s all I am. I went to ask questions specifically based on a content of a contract which we had examined and which we did not understand.”

“It was Dr. Kwabena Donkor who accused me[Sydney Casley Hayford] particulary that I seem to have my own agenda and this came up when we started talking about the civil works contract with Ibrahim Mahama but I did not go there with an agenda.”
