The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Executive Committee has directed that issues over the re-run of the parliamentary primary in the Klottey Korle constituency should be resolved in court.
This was after deliberations on the matter hit a snag.
[contextly_sidebar id=”MBG2B5ErBaFH7Z6U0k6PJx97lT6cwdzC”]Citi News’ Franklin Badu Jnr reported that the NEC which held a meeting on Wednesday to make a final determination on the matter resolved that the court should be the last resort for the matter to get to its logical conclusion.
Lawyer Philip Addison, a defeated parliamentary aspirant went to court in June to have another aspirant, Nii Noi Nortey disqualified from the race.
He had argued that Nii Noi Nortey presented to the party’s vetting committee a fake University of Ghana certificate.
But the court threw out the case paving way for the primary.
Meanwhile during the election, Lawyer Philip Addison and another aspirant, Adjei Tawiah boycotted the polls which saw Nii Noi Nortey emerged winner.
However, Philip Addison and Adjei Tawiah subsequently went to court to have the re-run of the polls after several attempts to have the party uphold their appeal failed.
Earlier, members of the NPP believed to be loyalist of Nii Noi Nortey who picketed at the party’s Asylum Down headquarters were chased away by the NPP’s private security operative, Invincible Forces.
