From next year, Medical Doctors who complete their Housmanship will not be appointed immediately in the government hospitals until they are given a financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance.

The new directive is due to the increasing wage bill of government.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Dr. Daniel Asare disclosed this to Citi News’ Central Regional correspondent, Kwamina Bamfo-Agyei.

This follows an announcement from the Ministry of Finance that any public sector worker who has not been paid over a period of time will only be paid three months salary arrears.

But Dr. Asare clarified that health workers will not be affected by the three months back pay directive.

In a related development, the Central Regional Minister Ebenezer Tey Addo has directed that the Teaching Hospital to create a Kidney Fund that can assist patients who suffering from kidney problems.

Mr. Addo gave this directive when he embarked on a familiarization tour of the Teaching Hospital.

The hospital authorities complained of acute water shortage in the hospital coupled with unavailable accommodation facilities.

They therefore appealed to the Minister to assist the hospital in solving the challenges affecting them.
