Some selected fathers who made the cut for this year’s Citi FM Cook for Mama Competition will tomorrow show their cooking prowess to win the ultimate of ₵3000 for their wives.

The Five fathers were selected out of hundreds of participants after their children wrote essays about the best lesson their mothers taught them. These fathers on the eve of Mothers’ Day will cook up delicious meals to celebrate their wives.

The selected entries (with corresponding dishes) were sent in by:

1. Christabel Tetteh – Rice and Belihates
2. Rahel Afriyie – Boiled yam with garden egg stew
3. Ernestina Dede Quaye – Konkonte with Groundnut soup
4. Jerome Kwaku Yankey – Yam with Palava sauce
5. Gyimah Yeboah Michael – Jollof

The fathers of these people will prepare the dishes above for their mothers tomorrow at the Citi FM premises. The winner takes away ₵3000, 1st runner-up gets ₵2000 and 2nd runner-up ₵1000, plus products from sponsors.

Christabel’s entry tells a beautiful story effortlessly.

“Mummy thought me how to steam meat at age 10 and by age 11, I know how to cook for the house. One thing that surprises me is my dad eat food prepared by me and my mum and can’t differentiate who cooked what. I am so grateful to have you as my mum and one more thing I have learned from mum is to say please to everyone.”

Ernestina’s entry is one that teaches the universal lesson of forgiveness.

“Forgiveness is one life greatest principle to a peaceful and a happy life. Up to the time I was 18years, I was unforgiving and always waiting for an opportunity to hurt those who have hurt me. So, I found it hard to understand how mum could serve dad her best dish in the evening when he had said just said hurtful words to her in the afternoon and he even hadn’t apologized. She said “forgiveness is for your own peace of mind and not only the person who wrong you”. I’m happier now because mother taught me how to forgive.”

From 10am tomorrow, the shortlisted contestants (named above) will try to out-cook themselves for the ultimate prize.

The Cook for Mama promotion is sponsored by Lelé – Tasty Food, Happy Family and Daviva – Life is beautiful.
