Managing Director of Hearts of Oak, Gerald Ankrah, has dismissed rumours that he has resigned from the club. There were media reports that Ankrah had been told by the club to resign following supporter displeasure at the lack of signings ahead of the new league season and the decision of coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi to move certain players like Robin Gnagne from the club.

Speaking to Citi Sports on Thursday, Ankrah said there were no truths to the reports and he was still in charge of the club.

“It is surprising that there are these rumours about the club. I have not been asked to resign from the club. I am still at post and we are running the club as expected.”

Ankrah went ahead to confirm that the club had signed a sponsorship with Japanese electronics firm Polar Electro but he explained that the club would benefit in terms of equipment and not in monetary terms.

“The deal is not an issue of money coming to the club. The company produces heart rate monitors and the team used it in training previously.”

“The coach recommended that we got some more so we spoke to the company and they have provided 10 more following the coach’s discussions with Polar Electro. The deal will be in place until the expiration of the coach’s 2-year contract with us.”
