Ghanaians have been urged to hold political leaders accountable. Failure to do so, according to Professor Henry Prempeh, will leave Ghana suffocating behind the wheels of procrastination.

Speaking at the launch of the book, “Sebitically Speaking”, at the Teachers Hall in Accra, Professor Prempeh, a constitutional law expert bemoaned the attitude of postponement, which according to him, has become pervasive in the lives of Ghanaians.

Professor Prempeh insisted citizens must initiate action to help build a prosperous nation for the future. According to him, the revival of literary activities in recent times is an indication of brighter prospects that awaits Ghana in the near future.

“A writing nation is a thinking nation, and a writing nation is a creative nation”, he noted.

He also noted that the history of a country is preserved when the citizens embrace writing, hence the need to appreciate the efforts of individuals who write.

Authored by Nana Awere Damoah, “Sebitically Speaking” is intended to spark the exhibition of patriotism and to ensure accountability in the way the country is managed.

Nana Awere Damoah speaking at the launch, touched on the need to fight the culture of silence that existed in 1980’s, fearing it was creeping back into Ghanaian politics.

He charged Ghanaians to ignite the spirit of courage by taking the destination of the country into their own hands.

Described by literary watchers as the guide to the beautiful country of Ghana, the author walks the reader through daily happenings in the country which can be related to with ease Employing humour, Nana Damoah drives home forcefully his satiric critiques of African society, culture and governance.

As the reader laughs at the funny stories about his favourite uncle, “Kapokyikyi” and tales of Nana’s growing up, he smoothly transitions into the harsh reality of all that is wrong with Ghana; which, ironically, have become accepted as norms.

The event was well patronised by academics, writers, public and civil servants, literary critics and the public from all walks of life.
