A member of the National Democratic Congress and former MP for Adentan, Kojo Adu Asare says the current happenings in the camp of the opposition New Patriotic Party suggests that they are “under a spell.”

According to him, the NPP may be reaping from some seeds they sowed in the past.

[contextly_sidebar id=”OhE8334xwO3wQpVClJCK1R5td2FVHzhQ”]“The NPP, currently, one wants to find out their state of mind, what really is their state of mind and I don’t envy them at all. I think they are reeling against…I don’t know whether some spell, and the source of that spell. It’s like something has been invoked upon them,” he stated.

The former Adentan MP made the revelation on Citi FM’s News analysis programme, The Big Issue in relation to the recent violent activities that have been recorded in the NPP.

Weeks after the NPP leadership unanimously suspended its National chairman, Paul Afoko and replaced him with Freddie Blay, their head office was allegedly ransacked by some military and police personnel.

After investigating the matter, the NPP’s acting Chairman, Freddie Blay told members of the party on Friday that the raid on their party head office at Asylum Down was orchestrated by the government.

But Adu Asare rejected the claim saying “do you think that the NDC and that matter the government is so stupid to just sell themselves this cheap? That we want the military and the police to be implicated in such complicity and so we will openly advertise ourselves to any passerby right from the onset?? I think Ghanaians are smarter than this.”

NPP preparing grounds for violence

Adu Asare also accused the NPP of fomenting the grounds for violence in the country.

“I don’t know what expertise the acting chairman of the NPP has in matters like this, matters that bother on security, investigation and so on and by extension the NPP communicators. I see one thing here and its very alarming and dangerous. The NPP is preparing the grounds for violence in this country. This is all that this seeks to portray, that Ghana is in a state where we can’t trust our security personnel. That those who are supposed to protect us while in our country are unable to do so… that thugs and rogues, paramilitary elements will then have the nerve to attack us arbitrarily. For me that is what this whole thing seeks to achieve,” he argued.

Meanwhile, the former Adentan MP said he is hopeful that the security apparatus in the country would be able to unravel the truth in the matter.
