The Member of Parliament for the Effia constituency in the Western Region, Joseph Cudjoe says current spate of violence in the country proves that the government is incompetent.

Speaking on Citi FM’s news analysis program, The Big Issue, the New Patriotic Party MP questioned why government would deliberately single out the violence in the NPP instead of providing adequate security in the country.

[contextly_sidebar id=”d4lTIzOgV51A73856ryWb5zTGhdaUhX1″]“You isolate the Asawase thing and leave the UPS one and leave the Koforidua one and say NPP is violent and for that reason lead to a conclusion, a very abnormal conclusion, that for that reason they are not ready to govern Ghana.”

He retorted that the government was unable to protect the people of Ghana by pointing out the recent spate of stabbings and acid attacks and said the government  should be more concerned about other acts of violence.

“Deal with the criminal aspect for which we have voted you in charge, deal with it. Don’t try to blame the opposition that doesn’t have the security apparatus at its disposal, don’t blame them else you are telling me you are incompetent.”

His comments come on the back of government’s denial of any involvement in the raiding of the NPP’s national head office in Accra and slew of violent incidents that have marred the opposition party.
