The General Secretary of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, is asking all incumbent Members of Parliament who lost their bid to represent the party  in the 2016 election, not to abandon the party.

[contextly_sidebar id=”JAZnQAKUY7tUfNsRzM8D8eSbYTNwNNRK”]Long serving legislators like E.T Mensah, Joe Gidisu and Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, failed to retain their parliamentary bid in the just ended primaries.

Some of these MPs were floored by persons contesting for the first time. Some of the disgruntled losers have threatened to seek redress in court.

But Mr. Asiedu Nketia is pleading with the defeated MPs to help the newly elected candidates to win the various seats for the party.

Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, Mr. Asiedu Nketia emphasized the need for the NDC to fall on the experience of such MPs as the party gears up for the 2016 elections.

“We wish to urge all the losers to accept the will of the masses and join the winners with renewed commitment to ensure the party emerges victorious in 2016. Similarly, we urge all winners to be humble and magnanimous in victory to facilitate all the reconciliation efforts of the party within the constituencies, remembering always that they are not yet in Parliament and that those who gave them the victory are constantly watching their conduct,” he explained.
