The disqualified National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant in the Ketu South Constituency of the Volta Region, Jim Yao Moti, has been suspended from the party for suing the incumbent MP, Fiifi Kwetey and the party over his disqualification.

According to a writ filed by Jim Yao Morti, he has fulfilled all the necessary conditions in the NDC’s guidelines for the election thus could not understand why he was disqualified.

[contextly_sidebar id=”m5aVLKpRsjC3IGBF6ALLmJjX50m5XXOm”]According to him, at his vetting, concern was raised about him selling a rented car in Togo and he “provided satisfactory answers and provided the necessary documentation to clear his name.”

He said although his vetting was referred to the NDC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for redress, he was forced to go to the court because “the NEC has not till date, come out with a decision on his candidature.”

But the Volta Regional Secretariat of the NDC in a statement on Wednesday said Mr. Morti has been suspended with effect from November 13 for “gross misconduct that has brought the image of the party in the Ketu South Constituency into disrepute”.

Mr. Morti was disqualified together with Albert Zigah. Meanwhile, the party has cleared Fiifi Kwetey and two others to contest in the primary in Ketu South.

The NDC has taken punitive actions against failed aspirants who have decided to battle their disqualification in court.

Below is the statement announcing his suspension
